Your day begins with a pick-up from your hotel, Nile Cruise, or Luxor Airport by your Emo Tours Egyptologist guide. From there, you’ll be transported in a private air-conditioned vehicle to explore the wonders of Luxor, starting with the West Bank.
Explore the famed Valley of the Kings, the royal burial ground of the pharaohs of Egypt’s New Kingdom (18th to 20th Dynasties, c. 1550–1069 BC). This desolate desert valley holds over 60 elaborately decorated tombs carved into the mountainside. While it’s called the Valley of the Kings, the site also includes tombs of queens, princes, and high officials. Most tours focus on the Eastern Valley, where the majority of tombs are located.
Next, visit the striking Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. This unique structure, designed by her architect Senenmut, is nestled beneath towering limestone cliffs and stands as one of the most impressive architectural masterpieces of ancient Egypt. Hatshepsut ruled as one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs, and her temple reflects both grandeur and innovation.
Stop at the towering Colossi of Memnon, two massive stone statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that have stood guard for over 3,400 years. Though weathered by time and nature, these imposing figures remain iconic landmarks on the West Bank.
After exploring the West Bank, head to the East Bank of Luxor.
Discover the awe-inspiring Karnak Temple, a vast religious site built and expanded over more than a millennium, mainly during the Twelfth to Twentieth Dynasties. The Temple of Amun-Ra, at its center, is the largest religious building ever constructed. Don’t miss the Hypostyle Hall with its 134 towering columns—a true marvel of ancient engineering.
End your tour at the majestic Luxor Temple, known in ancient times as Ipet-resyt or “Southern Sanctuary.” It was once connected to Karnak Temple by a grand avenue lined with sphinxes, parts of which are still visible today. The temple features stunning reliefs and inscriptions from the reigns of famous pharaohs like Amenhotep III, Tutankhamun, and Ramses II.
